Couple give thanks

Janet said if not for the ambulance service her husband would not be here today - brilliant work by everyone involved.

Always fantastic to receive compliments from the public - thanks to Janet and Ben of Aviemore for getting in touch.

Janet wrote: "I wish to compliment the excellent service received on dealing 999. I'd like to thank both the call handler and ambulance crew. The call handler stayed calm throughout and stayed on the line until crew arrived advising me on what to do.

"He did such a brilliant job even though at times I was less than nice to him. He Made me realise that call handlers are #unsungheroes who disappear once crews arrive. The crew were excellent ,without their work I don’t think my husband would be here."

We provide an emergency ambulance service to a population of over 5 million people, serving all mainland and island communities.
Our Patient Transport Service also takes around 1 million patients to and from hospital.
Each year, we respond to over 1.5 million calls for assistance.
Over 600,000 of these are emergency and unscheduled incidents.
We transfer around 90,000 patients between hospitals.
Our air ambulance service undertakes around 3,500 missions.
Our ScotSTAR service transfers 2,500 of Scotland's most seriously ill patients each year.
We are assisted by over 1,200 volunteers, such as our community first responders.
