Over 132,000 people learn lifesaving CPR during Restart a Heart Live event: Restart a Heart Live 2025

Over 132,000 members of the public tuned in to learn lifesaving CPR during the Restart a Heart Live event on Wednesday, 1 October.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, which smashed a Guinness World Record, this year aimed to train people across the UK in CPR and defibrillator awareness.

The event was a partnership between the Scottish Ambulance Service, Save a Life for Scotland, Save a Life Cymru, Resuscitation Council UK, and the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives.

Restart a Heart Live aimed to train as many people as possible in lifesaving CPR and was pioneered by Lee Myers, a Paramedic Clinical Team Leader at the Scottish Ambulance Service and co-produced with Save a Life for Scotland and Save a Life Cymru.

Lee said: “I’m delighted that 132,462 people tuned in live to learn CPR. I hope that through attending, these people now have the confidence to perform CPR if they witness an out of hospital cardiac arrest. Even if one person survives from someone attending the event, then it has been successful.”

Dr Gareth Clegg, Save a Life for Scotland, said: “Restart a Heart Live 2025 has shown the power of coming together to share lifesaving skills. With 132,000 people joining across the UK, we’ve taken another huge step towards a nation where everyone has the confidence to act in a cardiac arrest.

“Every person who watched, practised, or shared what they learned is part of building a community ready to save lives. Together, we’re closing the gap so that no community is left behind.”
