An Ambulance Care Assistant has celebrated his 51st year at the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS).

Andrew Reid, who is set to retire from Vale of Leven Station, was presented with a certificate and gifts at a presentation today (February 21).

He has worked a wide range of roles, including 39 years as an ambulance technician, and several locations such as Islay, Mull, Dunoon and Arrochar.

Andrew said: "I have enjoyed a long career in the SAS covering a wide range of roles. After 51 years, I have decided to retire and let somebody else have a go.

“I have enjoyed working at many locations and my colleagues are more like friends - I will never forget them."

Michael Dickson, SAS Chief Executive said: “We would like to congratulate Andrew on this fantastic milestone and for all his service. He is a tremendous ambassador for SAS and we wish him all the very best in his well deserved retirement.”
