Survey on the Scottish Ambulance Service’s new Mental Health Strategy opens: Mental Health

The Scottish Ambulance Service is developing a 10-year Mental Health Strategy and would like to hear what is important to you in shaping this strategy.

To do this we are seeking your responses to a survey that will inform our new Mental Health Strategy. (The Mental Health Strategy is a document listing and describing the specific actions and objectives that we are committing to in order to achieve its aims.)

We are working in partnership with See Me to find out what is important to you about the new Mental Health Strategy. Anyone may use our services, so we are keen to hear from as many people as possible.

  • We provide an emergency ambulance service to a population of over 5 million people, serving all mainland and island communities.
  • Our Patient Transport Service also takes around 1 million patients to and from hospital.
  • Each year, we respond to over 1.5 million calls for assistance.
  • Over 600,000 of these are emergency and unscheduled incidents.
  • We transfer around 90,000 patients between hospitals.
  • Our air ambulance service undertakes around 3,500 missions.
  • Our ScotSTAR service transfers 2,500 of Scotland's most seriously ill patients each year.
  • We are assisted by over 1,200 volunteers, such as our community first responders.
